We had so much fun running in the 1K and 5K this year. Olivia and Avery did the 1K and Ethan and I did the 5K together. I was very impressed with O and Avery - they both ran the whole way and really liked it. Olivia REALLY surprised me as she was almost crying before it because it was cold and she didn't want to do it. But, when the time came and she saw all the other kids, she was very excited and at the end she kept saying, "I won, I won - Mom, I won the race!" And she did (in my heart and her mind) so I let her think that. She can't wait to do another one.
Ethan was a ROCKSTAR in the 5K! He ran the entire time and I think I may have actually been holding him back. I was trying to keep us at a good pace so that he could last the whole time. He training only 2 times and I ended up beating me in the end :-) We finished at 27:55 - took about 35 seconds from our first one. We are already planning our next race. I LOVE sharing this with him, it makes for a great mother/son bond!
