Family Update

It has been a while since I updated on the family happenings, so I thought I would share what we have been up to.

Mike and I kept busy in January with the school fundraiser, which was a success.  I am starting to train for the Earth Day half marathon in April.  I like having something to strive for, it keeps me running 3 or 4 times a week. It is the long runs that get hard to schedule though.  I had my annual GNO with my girlfriends a few weekends back. It is always such a great time - so nice to have such close friends yet from high school.  Mike got out fox/coyote hunting and he was successful.  It was a beautiful full-moon night and he had a great time.  He has his annual fishing trip with my Dad, brother and brother-in-laws this weekend and I am sure they will have a blast!  I am going to have a sleepover/playdate on friday and then on saturday the girls are going to get together with the kids at my sister's house for a jewlery party.

Ethan is still going strong with hockey.  He has had a few games and continues to really like it.  This past weekend he even got to play goalie for a game.  Unfortunately, they played their best opponent yet, so there were a lot of goals but he also had many good stops!  He got to spend a weekend up in Brainerd with a friend from school a few weekends ago.  They swam, went snowmobiling, had horse rides, etc.  He had a great time.

Avery is doing well.  She continues to love school and can't wait to show us what she did each day. She is loving learning how to read!  The girls have been playing so well together lately.  Avery pretends that she is Olivia and Izzie's Mom and they play house.  The other night I caught them in our room playing circle time and Avery was the teacher.  It is so nice to see them have a fairly friendly relationship.  They do have their fights too though.  Izzie even gets to play with them sometimes, and she just loves that!  Avery does such a good job of making sure her sisters don't feel left out.

Olivia is becoming such a little lady.  She is always reading books (her version of reading), singing songs, doing her ABC's, etc.  I am amazed at the stuff she does and says and she isn't even 3 yet.  She is reminding me a lot of Avery and maybe that is because they play so much together.  For being 2 1/2 she is often very obedient, helps me a lot and plays very well with Izzie.  When she was younger I thought she was going to be much harder to parent. She seemed to have this spice about her, but now she is much more reserved.  Hopefully it stays!!

Izzie is still our busy Izzie!  She has such a funny personality.  She has been starting to really play well with Olivia though, and I think that makes her happy.  She loves to go outside, play kitchen, babies, puzzles, books, and climbs on everything!  She is doing a little better on the biting thing but I still find her sometimes going after Olivia if they are fighting over a toy.   She still loves her favorite word - NO! but her vocabulary is growing every day.

This past weekend we had a wonderful family weekend.  Ethan had a hockey game on saturday morning, then we headed down to the citites to watch my niece play basketball.  She is in 2nd grade and she is amazing.  They lost 25 -28 but she had 21 points! After that, we had a nice Feburary birthday dinner with my parents, brother and his daughter and one of my sisters, her husband and daughter.  Then, we went back to my brothers for some cards and drinks and went out for a bit once the kids were in bed.  Sunday, we went to church and then headed out for a fun day at the Mall of America.  The kids had a blast and did so well!  It was nice to do something that all the kids would enjoy.  Sunday night we had movie night at my brothers and then yesterday we went to the Children's Museum and a waterpark.  The museum was great!  Olivia and Izzie probably liked it the most - they could  run around touching and climbing on everything! They also liked the waterpark more than I thought they would.  They went down slides and liked to pretend they were swimming. Again, it was great to do something that everyone could enjoy.  It is getting easier to do those things now that the kids are all a little older.  I was so surprised how well they behaved with trying to go so many places in just a few days.

It was a long weekend away but we all had a wonderful time!  Here are a bunch of pictures from our recent endevours:

**If you are interested in the Children's Museum in St.Paul, I found out that the 3rd sunday of every month is free of charge as Target Corp. sponsors that day.  Also, the waterpark we went to was the Monticello Community Center and it was just $23.00 for all of us to spend the whole day there!  That is a great deal!
