We started off by going to a state park in Monticello to snowshoe. The weather was perfect - about 30 and sunny. It was such an amazing feeling going through the woods on snowshoes on such a beautiful day! Then we had lunch together and started to make our way up to Lutsen. As long as the drive was, about 5 hours, it didn't seem that long. It was nice to talk with each other and just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I love Duluth, and we haven't been there in a while, so it was awesome to drive through the city and along the shore. Friday night we had a nice dinner and then met up with Kristin and Jason, who were staying with us, and we played cards and relaxed. I learned how to play cribbage - LOVE it!
Saturday and Sunday we skiied at the Lutsen Mountains almost all day. Again, we had beautiful weather. I was probably the worst skiier out of all of us, but I still had a great time. A few hards falls though can really take a toll on the body. By the end of both days we were beat! We did soak in the hot tub on saturday night and that helped.
Before we left on Monday, Mike and I went on some cross country ski trails. I had never been CC skiing before so I was excited to try it. I found another winter sport that I think I will love. It is amazing all the state parks and trails that are out there for you to use too. Definitely something that we will have to put on the calendar for next winter to do more of.
We had an amazing time away - we cherished every second we had. We are grateful that we were able to go and look forward to the next time!
At dinner with Kristin and Jason at Bluefin Grille we stayed at Bluefin Bay.
